When a student applies to an Ontario Community Colleges and/or University the marks are sent automatically from
our school. All other applications are done independently so if transcripts are required you must speak to Ms. Trotman,
Guidance Administrative Assistant.Ontario Community Colleges Canadian Community Colleges have a large variety of excellent
programs. They offer:
Certificate Programs – 1 year
Diploma Programs – 2-3 years
Applied Degree’s – 4 years
For certificate and diploma programs the requirements are a minimum of :
• Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma
(OSSD).
• Most programs also require a grade 12 English at the College or University level.

Ontario Transfer Guide
There are transfer agreements between many Ontario universities and colleges, where you may transfer programs from Ontario colleges to Ontario universities and vice verse.The pathways described in this guide are provided for general information and planning. Applied Degrees
The Ontario Ministry of College and Universities has given some colleges the ability to confer a university degree for
some programs. These applied degrees have the same admission requirements as the Ontario Universities but you
can apply to them with the on-line College Application.

Ontario Universities
Ontario Universities require a minimum of six (6) Grade 12 University or University / College courses. These are courses that
have a U or M as the 5th character in the course code. The universities will not accept College or Open courses for admission.
These are courses that have C or O as the fifth character in the course codes.
Example:
ENG4U or HSB4M > accepted for admission PPL4O or ENG4C > not accepted for admission.Most University programs have specific course requirements. It is
important that you research these requirements.

If the university asks for a Grade 12 course as a pre-requisite they will not accept you without it. However, if the university
states that it is a recommended course they will still consider your application. You should be aware that if you don’t have a
recommended course the University may accept you into the program and require that you take that course in your first year.
The Ontario application process for Universities is on-line. There is a tutorial on-line as well. The most difficult part of the application
process is not the application itself, but rather the research that must be done before you apply. START EARLY!
1. What is the process for applying to university and college in Ontario?
Students apply on-line to Ontario University and College. Sometime after November 15, the school will receive pin numbers for
all students eligible to apply to university. An announcement will be made and students will be told where to pick up their application
and pin number. There are no pin numbers for college applications in Ontario; however, students will still be applying online.
As soon as the information becomes available, students will be contacted.
2. How do I pay for my application on-line?
You may use a credit card (MasterCard or Visa) to pay for your application. If you do not have a credit card you may send the
application centre a cheque (or a money order (drawn on a Canadian bank) in Canadian dollars.
There is also an internet or telephone bill payment service. You will have to check with OUAC and OSCA for details on the internet/
telephone option. Once they have received your payment,they will activate your application. Please note that if you send
a cheque, it may take up to two weeks for the cheque to arrive and be processed. This will delay the activation of your
application.

3. Is there a limit to the number of universities or programs at a university to which I can apply?
No, you can apply to as many universities as you wish to pay for.However, PLEASE READ YOUR APPLICATION BOOKLET
CAREFULLY, SOME UNIVERSITIES DO HAVE LIMITS TO THE NUMBER OF PROGRAMS TO WHICH YOU CAN APPLY. Also, students should check the
policy of acceptance to alternative programs. Please also be aware that for many programs there are supplementary applications
and addition criteria required.Please check your college/university handbooks and websites of
the institutions that you wish to attend for this information.Your on-line university application can be changed at any time,
BUT you must comply with the universities individual deadlines.For example : if you apply to York University with the online
application, but decide to change it to Guelph you may do so as long as you do it before the application deadline stated in
Guelph’s University.
