In FIFA World Cup 2010, everyone wants to see the best players on planet competing for their country.  However, looking at the 23 names out, it seems that some of the more better ones have been ruled out.  This will definitely have impact on the over-all performance and results of the tournament.

For instance, let us take the case of five-time champions Brazil.  Today, Brazil have perhaps the best defensive combination in their history leading into a World Cup.  Brazil now features outstanding goalkeeper in the form of Julio Cesar and players like Lucio, Maicon, and Daniel Alves.

Still, on attack, there is a lack of speed.  Coach Dunga is to be blamed for lack of creativity.  The omission of Alexandre Pato is perplexing to many.   Yes, Alexandre was injured for a significant part of the season and just now recovered to full fitness.  Yet, even with small time he spent on the sidelines, AC Milan still scored 14 goals in 30 games.  As a result, it is doubtful whether it was right thing for coach Dunga not to include Alexandre in the team.

Perhaps, Brazil and FIFA will miss non-inclusion of young forward Alexandre. He was in the squad that competed and won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. During that event, Alexandre broke an exceptional record as he became the youngest  player to score on a World Cup, with the age of seventeen years and hundred and two days, against African club champions Al-Ahly.  The record was previously held to the legendary Pelé, who was 17 years and 239 days old when he scored during the 1958 FIFA World Cup.

Much of the History of Football (Soccer, for Americans) can be told by telling the History of World Cups. Except for the pioneer editions (when teams were invited to participate, and sometimes refused), all the best teams in the world want to participate in the World Cups (there are more countries affiliated with FIFA than with the United Nations). And all the best players in the world want to defend their countries in the World Cups.

Much of the History of the World Cups can be told by telling the History of Brazil in the World Cups. Brazil is the only country to participate of the seventeen World Cups; Brazil has been five times champion (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002), vice-champion in two editions (1950 and 1998) and semi-finalist in other three (1938, 1974 and 1978). Several of the best players in History of football were Brazilian, and most of them left their register in the World Cups.
