About Admission:
Undergraduate
A freshman class of about 1,700 students and a transfer class of about 30 students are admitted each year.
Graduate
More than 65 departments and programs offer graduate degrees at Stanford, and admission requirements vary greatly among them.

Tuition & Payment
Tuition is indicated with each course description and varies depending on course length and class size.
Registration Fees
A non-refundable registration fee of $35 is required for each student once per quarter if the total amount of your tuition and fees for that quarter exceeds $100.
Tuition Assistance
Each student qualifies for only one discount. Discounts do not apply to courses with tuition under $100 or to special events. Discounts apply only to tuition, not to registration or course fees.
Stanford University Employees: Employees who work 50% time or more and receive STAP funds may apply up to the full amount of their yearly STAP fund allocation ($800) toward Continuing Studies tuition and registration fees. It is your responsibility to verify that you have sufficient STAP funds before enrolling in a course. To check your STAP balance online, go to and login with your SUNet ID by clicking Training > STAP Balance.
Stanford University Faculty: Stanford faculty members are not eligible for STAP funds. Faculty may receive a 20% tuition discount.
Stanford Hospital Employees: If you work 50% time or more at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, or at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, you may apply the full $1,000 of your yearly educational fund allocation toward Continuing Studies tuition and registration fees. Simply get an Educational Assistance Tuition Reimbursement Form from your HR Manager. A supervisor must sign this form. Then fax it to the Continuing Studies office with your registration form.
Stanford Medical Center Employees: Medical Center employees receive a 20% tuition discount on course tuition. (Important: Hospital Employees should not use this discount.)
Stanford Alumni Association (SAA) Members: 15% tuition discount (valid SAA ID number required).
65+: 20% tuition discount.
Public Educators: 20% tuition discount (Valid only for certified educators teaching in Bay Area schools).
