The University of Sydney, founded in 1850, is Australia's first university, and has an international reputation for outstanding teaching, as a center of research excellence and as an active and engaged community leader.


Costs

There are only two types of undergraduate places available at the University of Sydney: Commonwealth supported places for domestic students and fee-paying places for International students.Courses are made up of Units of Study and it is possible to calculate the cost of individual units of study for fee-paying and Commonwealth-supported students.As well as your course fees, you may incur other expenses, such as living costs when studying at Sydney.There are also different fees and charges for International students.

What other costs should University consider:

Text books, materials and uniforms are also charges that students need to consider. Some courses require expensive equipment and uniforms.

Sydney Uni LIVE! :Saturday August 30, 9.30am - 4.00pmYou will be able to see the campus, pick up brochures and talk to staff and students.Pick up a copy of the UAC guide.If you are a HSC student you will get a UAC Guide from your school. It will also be available at NSW newsagents and can be ordered directly from UAC later in the year.Check if your course has additional selection criteria Some courses in music, visual arts, oral health and pharmacy require more than just a UAC application, while other faculties have flexible entry. Check your UAC guide for details.Apply through the Universities Admissions Centre.On-time applications close 30 September 2008.Come to Information Day on 6 January 2009.To talk about your options in detail.Find out the results of your application through UAC.The University makes most of its offers in mid January and enrolment is at the end of January. If you don't get your preferred course straight away, we can help you decide what to do next.
UNDERGRADUATE

Undergraduate courses are available in a wide range of areas of study. Levels offered include Diplomas and Bachelor's degrees.

International Undergraduate Prospectus contains a brief description of courses for international students under each faculty, plus other information
Faculty Handbooks include descriptions of courses and, in most cases, units of study (i.e. subject)

New undergraduate courses for 2008

The University of Sydney will be introducing a number of new courses in 2008 within the faculties of Law and Engineering and Information Technologies.For information on our full range of undergraduate courses,
Law
Arts (Media and Communications)/B Laws: This is a new combined program with the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Law, commencing for the first time in 2008. Students in this program are able to complete two degrees in 6 years of full-time study, whereas it would normally take up to 7 years to separately complete both degrees.Students will study Media and Communications, Arts and Law subjects concurrently through years 1-3 of their degree, Media and Communications, and Arts in year 4, and Law only in years 5-6.Engineering and Information Technologies.
This combined program allows for study in both Information Technology and Commerce. Career opportunities for graduates of this program include positions in management and technical consulting, electronic commerce, information services management, information architecture, web development and managemen.
