Al Qaeda Suspect Eludes Kenyan Police Dragnet
A suspected Al Qaeda operative believed to have masterminded the 1998 bombing of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania dramatically eluded a Kenya police manhunt in the Indian Ocean resort town of Malindi last Sunday. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, a Comorian with a $5 million bounty on his head for plotting the 1998 attacks that killed over 225 people and injured thousands, is said to have narrowly escaped from an advancing police squad, leaving two passports behind and his laptop computer still switched on in the home he was staying in. Two men were arrested for allegedly abetting the wanted terror suspect.
