Ballmer and Gates said good bye
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and company say goodbye to founder
Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer took the stage today in an emotional goodbye during Gates last full day atop the Microsoft throne.
The billionaire computer whiz is retiring and plans on focusing more on his philanthropy work.
While reminiscing about old times in the Microsoft conference room today, Gates didn't hold back from getting in a few jabs at past tensions with IBM.
"They went off with OS 2, we were left with good old Windows, and sure enough the David versus Goliath story came out with the right ending," he said, alluding to the period of time when IBM decided to go with it's on OS after having successfully used Microsoft's DOS operating system.
But Bill won't be leaving the company completely. He'll remain it's non-executive chairman and will still take on tasks created by Ballmer, Craig Mundie and Ray Ozzie.
