Summer Intensives: Repertory Level 3


Fast-paced classes for advanced students aimed to stretch and challenge participants facility and versatility. This course offers participants the unique opportunity to learn excerpts from Nederlands Dans Theatre's past and current repertory.

Summer Intensives: Performance Project Open


Date: 18 August 2008 - 22 August 2008
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This class is open to alll levels of ability. Maresa von Stockert will give an insight into her own working methods and through specific tasks and discussions encourage participants to explore and develop their own creative potential. Focus points will be the exploration of a physical dialogue between human body and objects and the use of text as an inspirational starting point in a dance context.

Please note that these sessions do not include a warm-up. Participants are required to warm-up individually before the beginning of the workshop.

Teacher's Biography
Maresa von Stockert is Artistic Director of the dance theatre company Tilted Productions. She has received wide recognition for her work winning numerous awards, amongst them a 2005 Time Out Live Award for Outstanding Choreography and a 2002 Jerwood Choreography Award. Her work stands out through its visually striking theatricality, imaginative dance, thought provoking social commentary and a unique use of set and props. From 2002 - 2004, Maresa was Associate Artist at The Place. She is currently an Artist in Residence at Southbank Centre, London and an Associate Artist at DanceEast.


Summer Intensives: Choreography Open

Enjoy exploring your own creative ideas in these relaxed and informative sessions for absolute beginners. Freddie will guide you through the basics of choreography and encourage participants to develop their own choreographic talents.

Teacher's Biography
Frederick Opuku-Addaie started dancing through East London Dance workshops and The Place community projects, working with companies such as Random Dance, V-Tol, Saburo Teshiguara/ Karas. He graduated from London Contemporary Dance School at The Place in 2002, having had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Lea Anderson and Jonzi D.

Freddie was an apprentice with Random Dance from 2003-04 and danced in the Children's project Alpha. He choreographed and performed in Random Dance's AWOL in 2004 at The Place Theatre. Since then he has worked as a freelance dancer for various artists including Thomas Small/Smallpetitkein Dance, a commercial with Bailey's and more recently with Rashpal Singh Bansal/ United Dance Artists.
