Gamelan Family Taster Workshop

Bring family and friends to explore the sights and sounds of the gamelan, the beautiful percussion orchestra from Indonesia. Comprising of gongs, metallophones and drums, the gamelan is a great way to experience group music-making. No prior musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to take off your shoes, sit on the floor and have fun. Taster sessions are limited to 20 participants and are open to anyone aged seven and over.

Javanese Dance Workshops

Join with Ni Made Pujawati for an introduction to Javanese dance. After learning the basic movements and techniques of Javanese female-style dance, participants will put these movements together to form the opening dance sequence of welcome dance 'Gambyong Pangkur', which they will perform to gamelan music. Prior knowledge of Javanese dance is not required, but participants are advised to wear comfortable clothes and dance barefoot. Dance workshops are limited to 20 participants on a first come-first served basis, and are open to anyone aged seven and over.
